Jog Recovery

The software involved in jogging the 2MASS instrument is finicky and convoluted. This is due to the complexities in communicating with older hardware and software. If the jog function is not working, go through the steps below:

  1. Power off camera in astrocam
  2. Close Astrocam
  3. Close DS9
  4. Close XEIF
  5. Cycle power on the Telcom Network Translator by pressing the red button and releasing
  6. Open a terminal window on big2mass. Ping the network translator at 10.13.3.2 to verify its online
  7. Start XEIF, Astrocam, DS9 in that order

If jog still does not work:

  1. Follow steps 1-4 above
  2. Send telescope to stow
  3. Switch the TDC from computer to manual
  4. Turn off the RA and Dec Motor Power
  5. Exit the FORTH program
  6. Cycle power to the FORTH computer
  7. Begin startup procedure for telescope
  8. Cycle power on the Telcom Network Translator by pressing the red button and releasing
  9. Open a terminal window on big2mass. Ping the network translator at 10.13.3.2 to verify its online
  10. Start XEIF, Astrocam, DS9 in that order
