===== Samsung Monitor (June 2024) =====

This monitor serves a dual purpose.
- It is permanently connected to the HP ThinClient xterminal vattxt4 via a DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable.
- It may be connected to your laptop via an HDMI-to-HDMI cable.
**Both inputs may be active at the same time.** To select which input you want to show on the screen, use the monitors controls. =)

Where to find the monitor's controls? There is a ''Samsung'' inscription at the center of the bottom edge of the monitor. Feel the bottom edge of the monitor right behind the inscription. You will feel the presence of five rubbery buttons. The center button activates a menu (depending on the context it serves to confirm your selection, i.e., it functions as the "enter" button, or it allows you to leave the menu without making any selections, i.e., it sometimes also functions as the "escape" button). The other four buttons are situated around the center button in a cross formation.

Pressing the center button activates the menu. To the left of center, there is a pictogram in the shape of a square with an arrow entering the square from the left. This is the pictogram for "source". Press the left button, selecting the "source", and confirm by pressing the center button. A new menu page appears with ''HDMI'' and ''DisplayPort''. Use the up or down buttons to make your selection and confirm by pressing the center button. Give the display 20 seconds to complete the switchover.

Mountain Operations favor using a Zoom session for trouble shooting telescope issues. It bears the poetic name //Oasis// or MOO (Mountain Ops Oasis): ''583 222 052''

Note that the ''Input Select'' in the monitor's main menu must be set to ''Auto'' (see p. 21 of the manual). When this is the case, the monitor reliably finds the source (HP Thin Client or a laptop attached to the ''HDMI 2'' port). :!: Make sure that the ''Input Select'' is set to ''Auto'' :!:
Also note that the multipurpose button can be used (pushing it upwards) to activate a simple source selection menu (see p. 12 of the manual). When you do use the simple source selection menu to select a source, however, go back to the main menu and make sure that the ''Input Select'' is set to ''Auto'' because selecting a source with the small menu changes the settings in the main menu.

Note that there is a power switch at the bottom of the monitor next to the socket for the power cord.
