Using
the f/5 Hub Calibration Lamps
Start Up
If completely shutdown
(taken from "Using SAO Calibration Lamps During Non-Hecto Runs" in the
MMT docuwiki):
- Second-Floor West: flip on SAO knife-edge
switch. Big ethernet hub on top of (SAO) racks should come alive
- Third-Floor East: reconnect green-red hubbell
in back of rack #35. Looking up in same rack both pulizzi and ethernet
hub below it shoul dbe powered up.
Bringing up the GUI
- Control Room:
- Log
on to 'lewis'
- To
confirm you can actually reach the pulizzi, in an xterm type ping domecal or ping 192.168.1.199
- Assuming
you got a positive response from the ping, start domecal server by
typing srvinit
domecal restart
- Start
domecal GUI with dcalgui
& (for an
example of the GUI goto: MMT
docuwiki)
- To
enable the lamps in the hub, type calbaffle-enable
on, you will be asked "You
are sure that the hectospec positioner is not mounted on the Telescope?" enter yes. On the GUI
the box at the bottom which was red and stated Cal Locked should change to green and
state Cal Enabled.
Using the hub lamps
- At the
bottom of the GUI there are two radio buttons beside the Baffle heading, Thar and Continuum. Click these to turn the
lamps on as desired.
Using the wall mounted lamps
- All
four buttons at the top of the GUI (nw, sw, ne, se) will be
red. Turn them all on sequentially by clicking them (only once, they do
not change immediately). When powered up buttons will change to green,
the rest of teh GUI will remain unchanged.
- Click continuum button at the top of the
row of lamp names. Everything goes red except the four name buttons at
the very top, and the temperature for each of the four boxes will start
displaying
- Click
which ever source lamp you wish to expose. Regardless of the source, *do not* keep them on indefinitely
since all the lamps have finite lifetimes.
Shut Down
Bringing down the GUI
- Control Room:
- Turn
off any lamps which remain on (all lamp buttons should be read - both
wall mounted and hub lamps)
- Turn
off all four wall boxes (nw, sw, ne, se) by sequentially
clicking the currently green buttons. They will turn red.
- Close
domecal GUI
- Stop
domecal server by typing srvinit
domecal stop
To completely shut down
- Third-Floor West: disconnect green-red
hubbell in back of rack #35
- Second-Floor East: flip off SAO knife-edge
switch
